Chris Cooper has a rare
blend of communication and
technical skills, and there
isn’t a challenge that daunts
him – not after working in major
medical laboratories that did
research on minimally invasive
spinal surgeries using human
cadavers.
Before joining ROI in 2010,
Chris worked for Medtronic, the
medical technology giant, in a
variety of laboratory,
supervisory and communication
roles. In his most recent
position there, he worked as a
marketing communications
specialist, developing and
implementing strategic marketing
communications, including online
and print collateral, events,
graphics, presentations and
other media. In previous roles
he supervised lab safety,
supported training initiatives,
and helped the company comply
with strict federal regulations.
If a project is complicated,
Chris loves it all the more.
Chris explains that his
capacity to manage complex
projects flows in part from his
strong listening skills. Not
only did he work in a Medtronic
call center as a support
technician, resolving customer
issues, Chris also spent more
than a year as a funeral
director, earlier in his career.
In that capacity, he spent many
hours with bereaved families,
listening sympathetically in
times of great duress.
"I learned that compassion
and understanding are key," he
said – and not just in times of
loss. "People need to know
you’re listening on a daily
basis, and that you care."
When Chris isn’t helping ROI
clients, he likes to spend time
with his wife and two children
and – when he can – continuing
to build his extensive comic
book collection. "I’m a big fan
of superheroes and mythology,"
he said. "If you dare to dream
big, the sky’s the limit."
Chris’ other passion is
baseball, and he currently plays
in the San Jose-MSBL league,
where he is a three-time All
Star. |
