Jennifer Zabel

Jennifer Zabel enjoys working with numbers. "I am very numbers-oriented, and accounting logic comes easily to me," she said. "And with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principals) and tax laws constantly evolving, my work stays fresh and interesting."

Jennifer got her start in the restaurant industry, overseeing the finances of a Silicon Valley restaurant that drew wealthy entrepreneurs hungry for steaks and seafood. Having grown up as the daughter of a chef, Jennifer applied her knowledge of the kitchen and accounting to implement inventory software that tracked the outflow of each ingredient associated with diners’ orders, enabling the restaurant to calculate food costs and closely track its replenishment needs.

Jennifer later spent several years at a Bay Area CPA firm, where she specialized in financial and compliance audits as well as individual tax for high-net-worth individuals.  She developed the firm’s paperless software structure and facilitated the conversion.  She did this for a national, publicly traded construction company too, where she was also responsible for its reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Jennifer, a licensed California Certified Public Accountant, holds a BS in Business Administration from San Jose State University, and has served on the Board of Directors for the Peninsula/Silicon Valley Chapter of the CAL CPA Society.  She joined ROI Communication in 2009 as a Senior Accountant.

When she’s not making sure that everything adds up, Jennifer can be found on one of her long daily walks along the Pacific coastline, where she keeps her eye out for sea lions, dolphins, and pelicans.

Jennifer, who has traveled to 23 countries, was once robbed by a wild monkey in Bali. He grabbed her water bottle and ran back into the jungle. From then on, she’s always had a sharp eye for monkey business.
